今年の4月から意匠の内装が出願できるようになり、早速、栄えある第1号、第2号が登録されたとのニュースが報道されました。
これまで意匠は物品の模様、形状などが意匠登録できましたが、物品とは関係のない店舗、事務所、施設の内部の設備と装飾などが登録できるようになりました。
カルチュア・コンビニエンス・クラブ株式会社(蔦屋書店)の「書店の内装」の意匠です(以下の図)。

空間のデザインを意匠登録するものです。
この「意匠の特徴」の説明によると、テーブルライトある長机で、珈琲を飲みながら読書するというゆったりとした時間を過ごせる効果があるそうで、空間デザインを保護するということは、雰囲気までが保護されることを意味しています。

もう1つは、くら寿司(株)のやぐら建ての回転寿司店の内装も意匠登録されました(1,671,153号)。
創作者として、佐藤可士和氏の名前が記載されています。
やぐらの下で寿司を食べられるというレトロな雰囲気が伝わってきます。)

意匠も物品を離れ、空間、そして空間の与える雰囲気までも保護される時代になりました。

As from April of this year, it became possible to file applications for designs of interiors, and reportedly the first and second interior designs have already been registered.
The new law allows for the registration of designs for interiors and installations in shops, offices, and facilities with no relation to articles, in addition to patterns and shapes of articles that were able to be registered prior to April.
The following drawings are the design of a bookstore interior filed by Culture Convenience Club Co.,Ltd. (TSUTAYA BOOKS).

The design of a space is what is registered as the design.
According to an explanation of the characteristics of this design, a long table with table lamps has the effect of making people spend time leisurely reading books while sipping coffee, and protecting the design of the space means that even the atmosphere is protected.

The other design that was registered was the interior of a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant built with a yagura, filed by Kura Sushi, Inc. (No. 1,671,153). A yagura is a wooden frame with a roof often seen at festivals.
The name of Kashiwa Sato is listed as the creator.
The design gives off a nostalgic atmosphere where one can eat sushi under a yagura.

Designs are now protected not only for articles, but also for spaces and the atmosphere they give off.
