先日出席した翻訳フォーラムでは、AI、機械翻訳を使ったツール、サイトが数多く紹介されましたが、そんな折、ある翻訳会社からMemsource(https://www.memsource.com/ja/)というツールを使った翻訳を依頼されました。
今後はこのようなツールを利用した受注が増えるとのことで、いよいよMT(machine translation)の時代に突入です。
これを逆手に取り、MTを効率的に使った翻訳者になるというのが、人間翻訳者の生き残り方法です。
完全にマシンやAIに任せて翻訳を完成させることはできず、どうしても人間によるチェック、Posteditingが必要です。
MTやAIが普及すれば、確かに翻訳者のレートは下がりますが、翻訳を効率化して数多くの件数をこなせるようになるのであれば、全体としては翻訳収入は変わらないか、上がっていく可能性もあります。
Grammarly®(https://app.grammarly.com/)というネイティブチェックサイトを使っている翻訳者もあり、久しぶりにダウンロードしてみると、私が3年前に使ったときよりはるかに進化していました。確かに3年もあれば、AIも急速に進化します。
AIの進化とともに、今後はむしろ翻訳者にとって面白い時代が到来すると期待しています。

“taking the advantage of”のtheを削除すべきとのsuggestionがされました。

At the translation forum in which I participated the other day, many tools and web sites using AI and machine translation (MT) were introduced. At the time, I received a request for a translation using a translation tool called Memsource (https://www.memsource.com/ja/).
I heard that translation requests using such tools will increase, which means that the age of MT (machine translation) has come at last.
It is a survival method for human translators to use MT effectively, to take advantage of this opportunity.
Translations cannot be completed only by machines or AI without reviews and postediting by humans.
As MT and AI will become more and more prevalent, human translators’ fees will be lowered. However, by increasing efficiency, the number of translations which translators can handle may also increase, which may eventually change or even raise their translation revenues.
Some translators use Grammarly®(https://app.grammarly.com/) which is a native check web site, which I downloaded again after a long time and realized that it has evolved remarkably. Certainly, AI has evolved over the past three years.
I expect that a rather interesting age for human translators will come.
I checked the above English sentences with Grammarly, and received a suggestion for the removal of “the” in the phrase “taking the advantage of.”
